Announcing Upper School Art Teacher and Director of Security

Dear CA Families and Faculty & Staff,

I hope you all are having a great summer. As the new academic year nears, I am incredibly excited to begin my first year here at Clarksville Academy, my alma mater, as the Upper School art teacher and Director of Security.

I am a proud veteran full of military experience to include personal protection while contracted overseas in the Middle East, force protection officer, security officer for the United States military guarding military installations, and fundamentals of emergency management, leadership, and influence certification. [ also have a criminal justice degree with a concentration in Homeland Security and counter terrorism, and I completed this through Austin Peay State University.

Not only do I have a passion for security and protection, I also have a passion in teaching and art. I have taught and coached wrestling for CMCSS for the past five years.

As an alumni of Clarksville Academy, a teacher, head coach, and parent, I consider Clarksville Academy my home. 1 approach the role that I have been charged with at Clarksville Academy confidently knowing that my detailed understanding of Criminal Justice, protective security detail, working well with students and families, and military experience provides me with the competency to accomplish the goals of this position, providing assistance in the direction and operation of campus safety and security functions. A top priority would be to continue to increase the excellent reputation of Clarksville Academy. I can lead, as required, with integrity, wisdom, and high ethical standards by utilizing the skills I obtained as an instructor, security officer, and in the criminal justice field.

Throughout the summer months, I have worked with Dr. Drew collecting data, researching, and reviewing current plans to continue campus safety analysis. I extend to her my appreciation for charging me with this role and responsibility. I am excited to share my expertise for the benefit of our school community. Mrs. Hinote and I have also been meeting and working together to continue improvements at Clarksville Academy.

You will often hear that Clarksville Academy is a special place; its depth and character, traditions, commitment to academic excellence, as well as its beautiful natural surroundings. All of these contribute to making Clarksville Academy such an exemplary academic environment. We want your student to take full advantage of all Clarksville Academy has to offer.

I look forward to this new academic year and journey.

Sincerely,

Nick Williamson

Dan Burden Endowment

The Dan Burden Endowed Scholarship is an endowment that’s been created to honor Coach Dan Burden upon his retirement.

For more than 35 years, Coach Dan Burden has been teaching students at Clarksville Academy how to solve the math problems he kindly gives them along with the complex equations that make up life itself. On the football field, in his trophy-filled classroom, and in the crowded hallways, Coach Burden has influenced generations of students and inspired them to succeed.

“The most important thing is to understand students—identify with them. Teachers can’t communicate to the whole world, but they can connect with the person in front of them.”  – Dan Burden

CA has approximately 1,200 graduates. If each graduate gave $10, we could raise $12,000—if everyone gave $50 we would raise $60,000! Please take a moment to honor Coach Burden by donating whatever amount you’re able. Every cent counts and we’re incredibly grateful.

Thanks to you, we’ve raised $17,000 of our $50,000 goal so far!
