Intermediate Health Class

The Intermediate Health classes recently visited the Tree of Life Market. We were taught information about natural, organic and GMO free food products. Angelica and Yvonne Chamberlain gave the classes a tour of the market, described and shared some of the unique fruits and vegetables they carry. They also explained that their dairy and meat products are all local and hormone free. Students were enchanted by the snacks and cookie isle and the thought that these are healthier options for “junk” food.

The students then went to the kitchen to taste some of these unique snacks, milks and juices.

On our return back the students created iMovies of their experience.

New Head Boys Basketball Coach

We are proud to announce the return of Matt Wallace as Head Boys Basketball Coach. Head of Schools, Kay Drew announced Tuesday, that Matt Wallace would assume the position of Head Boys Basketball Coach. Wallace is the current Director of Finance & Operations for Clarksville Academy. Wallace will continue his administrative position, but will add Head Varsity Coach to his duties.

On Monday, March 9 Chuck Holt resigned from both his coaching and teaching duties to assist his family. Holt is sad to leave his Clarksville Academy family, but knows that his family is what is most important. Holt said, “I’ve enjoyed my time while at CA and would like to thank the administration, faculty, and students for their support throughout my stay.  I’ll miss the relationships I’ve developed with my team and students the most.  Its been a great three years and I wish the best for the team in the future.” Head of School Kay Drew, “Everyone speaks about how their family comes first, but few have the opportunity to show it. Chuck has made the tough decision to leave Clarksville and his CA family to take care of what is most important. We are sorry to see him go, but support his decision completely.”

Wallace commented, “I want to say I really hate to see coach Holt leave Clarksville Academy. He has been a positive influence on our school and our basketball program. He is a long time friend, a class act, and we will miss him.”

Wallace, a Clarksville native, graduated from Northeast High and went on to Cumberland University on a basketball scholarship. After two years playing for Cumberland, he completed his Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from The University of Tennessee Knoxville. Wallace also has his Bachelor of Science in Management from Bethel University and his Master of Science in Management from Austin Peay State University. Wallace served as the Head Boys Basketball Coach for Fort Campbell High School in 2009, and the Head Boys Basketball Coach for CA for the 2011 and 2012 seasons and Assistant Coach for the 2013 season. Wallace is married to Tara Sundstrom Wallace of Clarksville and they have two sons, Cooper and Colton.

When asked about returning to coaching Wallace replied, “I have spent the last year spending time with my family and recharging for the upcoming year. They are very excited, to start a new season with our basketball family. We have a very talented team coming back, and we can be competitive in a very tough, and very well coached district. A huge thank you to Kay Drew, and Jake Peterson for having the confidence in me to lead this basketball program for the second time. It’s time to go to work! Go Cougars!”

Head of Schools, Kay Drew is looking forward to an exciting year with Coach Wallace at the helm. “For me there is no doubt that Matt Wallace is the right person to lead the Cougars basketball team. His personality, work ethic and dedication to CA will enhance this program in many ways.”

News from the Cougar Café

Please remember to Pre-Order Lunch each week. This is very important even when you are on the annual or bi-annual lunch plan. Clarksville Academy now offers a Cougar Bucks Account option to better assist children with their lunch needs! This convenient option gives families the opportunity to deposit money into an account and this money can be withdrawn for miscellaneous items that are available at the express window or the hot lunch window. Payments can now be made via the new online marketplace!

Pre Order lunch using this link.

If you have any questions please contact Kristi Truitt at lunch@clarksvilleacademy.com.  Thank you!!

Box Tops & Campbell’s Labels

This is a reminder that CA collects Campbell’s labels and Box Tops through our CAA. The money raised from this project funds various school improvement projects. Last year we raised over $2000 through the Box Tops program alone! Please turn yours into your child’s teacher or Ms. Turnage in the front office.
