Clarksville Academy Won at State Chemistry Olympiad
The Clarksville Academy High School Chemistry Team, coached by Coach Jennifer Moore came in strong at the State Chemistry Olympiad Competition, held at Tennessee Technological University, March 2, 2018. The CA Chemistry team consists of Juniors Tucker Finch, Christy Zheng, Tabitha Lee, and Jenny Li.
Tabitha Lee was among the top 10 ranking students at this Tennessee Local Section competition, as a result, she will represent Tennessee to participate in the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad Exam, in April 2018. The rest of the team also had very strong showings. Christy Zheng was ranked the 11th.
The U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad is a prestigious, multi-tiered chemistry competition held by the American Chemical Society.
We are proud of all the students who competed last week! Wonderful job to these students!
Honors A&P
Jamie Martz, a medical laboratory scientist from Skyline Medical Center, visited honors anatomy classes to talk about careers in the medical technology fields and to discuss blood groups. Students were then given the opportunity to type their own blood.
Honors Biology
Honors biology students are diagramming cross sections of leaves as an introduction to photosynthesis.
National Honor Society
On Wednesday, February 28 Clarksville Academy inducted its newest members of the National Honor Society (grades 10, 11, & 12) and National Junior Honor Society (grades 8 & 9). NJHS inducted 61 new members bringing the total to 75 out of 109 eligible students, which is 67% of our students. NHS inducted 57 new members bringing the total number to 146 of 200 eligible students. This is 73% of our student population. The criteria for NHS & NJHS is a 3.25 GPA. We are proud of our students.
Tornado Victims
Thank you to everyone who gave in our drive for the 5 CA families whose homes were affected during the recent tornados. We raised over $3,000 to be divided among these families. We truly appreciate your kindness, love and support. We are Cougar Strong!
Clarksville Academy Night
Every Wednesday night at Firehouse Subs. Please go by either the Madison Street store or the Wilma Rudolph store and let them know you are with Clarksville Academy. Clarksville Academy will receive 15% of the sale. Every Wednesday night is Clarksville Academy Night at Firehouse Subs.
CAA
Clarksville Academy Association (CAA) is the parent volunteer association of Clarksville Academy. There are many opportunities throughout the school year for parents, guardians, and grandparents to get involved by volunteering your time and/or contributions. Teacher Treats
Each grade level will have the opportunity one time during the school year to provide Teacher Treats. You may contribute snacks, treats, drinks or a monetary donation to help purchase treats. Please watch for your grade’s week and contact your representative.
Box Top Contest
The CAA invites everyone to participate in our Box Tops Contest this year! When you turn in your Box Tops please label the baggie with your student’s name, grade and teacher (Lower School). A tally will be kept of all box top returns and a Pizza party will be awarded to the class with the most labels returned!
FCA
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes would like to invite everyone to be a part of FCA this year! High School will meet in room #118 Coach Trent’s Room, Intermediate School will meet in Mrs. Drake’s room. Please make plans to attend Wednesdays at 7:15am, everyone is welcome!
