Full School Day Friday
An email was sent over the weekend detailing our change in schedule for this Friday, March 13.
The scheduled Friday, March 13 Professional Development day for Faculty and Staff will be converted to a regular school day.
All students will have school on Friday, March 13th
Teacher and staff development, which is very important and a requirement for our accreditation with SACS CASI, will be revised and conducted in smaller 30-minute sessions after school between now and the end of the school year.
Intermediate and Upper school students’ class schedule will be regular on M-F to provide teachers face-to- face instruction time with the students each day this week.
Questions should be addressed either to Gina Goostree, Lower School Head, Tracy Burkhart, Intermediate School Head or Erica Coleman, Upper School Head or Kay Drew, Head of School.
Kindergarten
The Annual Q & U Wedding will take please this Thursday, March 12 at 8:45 on Procter Court. Everyone is invited to attend.
1st Grade Pet Show
Due to the recent winter weather we had to postpone the Annual 1st Grade Pet Show last week. The new date for the pet show is now March 10 at 9:00 AM on Procter Court. Everyone is invited.
Lower School Science
Students in 3rd grade continue their investigation of Earth’s Resources. We examined rock samples, and identified Sedimentary, Igneous, and Metamorphic rock. Students used technology to view photos of sedimentary rock layers, then created “Sedimentary Sandwiches”.
Steak Dinner
With our recent days out of school and the inability to have weekend rehearsals on campus for this year’s performance at CA’s Annual An Evening with Friends Steak Dinner, the Steak Dinner committee has come to a decision that there is inadequate time for preparation to continue with our original March 7th show date. Please make note that CA’s Annual An Evening with Friends Steak Dinner will now be on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at 6:00 P.M. Tickets may be purchased through Mrs. Kari Turner in the front office.
You will receive a new RSVP card in the mail to replace the one you received earlier. We apologize for any scheduling conflicts that this may have caused your family, but to have a top rate dinner and performance of this caliber, this decision was necessary.
Please mark your calendar and we look forward to seeing you there!
Hockey Time
The Nashville Predators Kids Club spent some time with our students teaching them a little about hockey. Judging by their excitement when they were picked up, it just may have been the coolest thing in PE to date! The Preds even donated the equipment needed, so our students can play anytime!
Kindergarten
Our K classes enjoyed a variety of readers last week for Read Across America. Our fantastic readers ranged from parents, to alumni to board members!
1st Grade
Students practiced long vowel with silent e words this week using QR codes. Students wrote the name of each picture and then scanned the QR code of the picture to check their spelling.

We are currently undergoing reenrollment here at CA. Families should submit their reenrollment contracts before March 10. All returning families have their space secured for the 2015-2016 school year until March 10. After this date we will begin open enrollment for any student in our community. Box Tops & Campbell’s Labels
This is a reminder that CA collects Campbell’s labels and Box Tops through our CAA. The money raised from this project funds various school improvement projects. Last year we raised over $2000 through the Box Tops program alone! Please turn yours into your child’s teacher or Ms. Turnage in the front office.
