Intermediate School News: September 5 – September 10, 2016

Art Class

Mr. Neitzke’s Intermediate School Media Arts class worked on a still life and shading project in class.

Coach Trent’s Seventh Grade classes are studying Ecosystems and Biomes and are currently working on a Biome Research project.  Eighth Graders are studying Early Civilizations with a web quest project on the Aztecs, Incas, Olmecs and Maya.

6TH Grade Science

Sixth Grade students learned about the phases of the moon in Science last week and created theses models as a culminating lab activity.

The first two to three weeks in Artistic Performance is all about vocal techniques. Just like an athlete must exercise, follow strategic games plans, and understand the value of their techniques to be successful.  In choral, a vocalist must understand proper breathing, how to open wide inside and outside of their mouth, and where to position their tongue. Beautiful music just doesn’t happen, it takes practice. Our voice is an instrument that must always be fine-tuning. It is not uncommon for the students to leave my class saying they felt like they just had a work out!

Our first Intermediate School Football game is this Thursday, September 8 at 7:30PM at the Sports Complex. Come out and cheer on our team!

FCA meets weekly in Coach Trent’s room on Wednesday at 7:15AM. We invite every IS student to attend.

Box Tops

This is a reminder that CA collects Box Tops through our CAA. The money raised from this project funds various school improvement projects. Last year we raised over $2000 through the Box Tops program alone! Please turn yours into your child’s teacher or Ms. Turnage in the front office.
