    Back to School Bash

    A big thank you CAPA & Student Council for organizing our Back to School Bash! Thank you to Tammy Thrash for Chairing our Back To School Bash for CAPA. Thank you to Ehma Herrera, Student Council Event Planner & Ellyn Darke, Student Council President for leading the way for our SC. This was a wonderful event and we hope you all had fun!

    Lower School Social

    We want to invite our Lower School community, grades PK-5 to a Social at the home of Lloyd & Jennifer Hinote on Tuesday, September 10 from 5:30-7PM. This come and go social is an opportunity for parents/guardians to meet and get to know each other. This event is designed for adults only, but childcare will be provided at the school.     The Intermediate School social (for grades 6-8) is tentatively scheduled for Nov 5 and the Upper School social is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 29. More details to follow!

    FCA

    Fellowship of Christian Athletes begins this week for ALL Intermediate & Upper School students. You do not have to be involved in athletics to attend. Intermediate School will be held Wednesday, August 28 at 7:15 AM in Mrs. Drake’s room. Upper School will be held Wednesday, August 28 at 7:15 AM in Mr. Boyd’s room 117 under the gym.

    Cougar Store

    We are excited to announce that the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) are now running our Cougar Store. We hope you will stop by and support these students!

    Cafeteria

    We want to thank you for your patience with our transition to a new system in our cafeteria. We hope to begin accepting online payments soon.     Cougar Classic Golf Tournament

    This annual event is just 1 month away! We hope you will participate in the Annual Cougar Classic Golf Tournament. This event is held on Sept. 21 at Clarksville Country Club with an 8 AM start!     Welcome Back

    We are thrilled to have everyone back on campus! We welcome you all back and have loved all the Cougar Yard Sign photos.  We hope you have enjoyed seeing them all on our Social Media.  Friday is our first home football game and we are celebrating with a BACK TO SCHOOL BASH!!!! All families are invited to attend from 5:30-7 at the Cougar Sports Complex.  This is sponsored by the Student Council and CAPA.  There will be food, games, music and fun!

    Summer Hours

    Thursday, May 23 is our last day of the school year.  Our offices close that afternoon and will reopen with Summer Hours on June 3.  Summer hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:30-Noon.

    Debbie Hollis Retires

    Upper School Music teacher and choral director, Debbie Hollis is retiring at the end of this school year.     The Class of 2019 will take their final walk across the stage at CA on Friday, May 24 at 7:00 PM.  There will be a brief reception in the breezeway immediately following.  Congratulations to all our graduates.

    Boys 4×200: TJ Jenkins, Jarius Satterfield, Gregory Carter, Deiondre Wilson take first place and qualify for the State Tournament on May 22.

    Boys 4×400: TJ Jenkins, Luke Page, Nick Whitlow and Jarius Satterfield placed first and qualify for the State Tournament on May 22. 

    Girls 4×100: Jayden Adolphin, Ashley Roberts, Diamond Bryant, and Aliyah Wise placed second and qualified for State on May 22.

    Lower School Field Day

    Lower School Field day will be held on Thursday, May 16 at the Cougar Sports Complex.  All Lower School children should be dropped off the Complex on that day and not brought to main campus.  Students will be returned to campus for pick up.  Parents should follow normal pick up procedures for your child.  Please see your child’s newsletter for additional information.

    Reminder

    The second enrollment fee was due Friday, May 10.  If you have not yet paid this fee, please do so immediately.  This is the fee that locks in your enrollment for the 2019-2020 school year.  If you have questions regarding your enrollment or fees please contact the Business office at 647-6311.

    Ayden Kujawa is the 2019 Regional Girls Tennis Singles Champion for Division II Class A!  She will advance to the State Tournament!!!! We are so proud of Ayden and all her accomplishments both on and off the court!

    Baseball
    Varsity Baseball won Saturday against Northpoint Christian in the first round of the State Tournament!  They advance to the Quarterfinals in Knoxville this Thursday/Friday.  They must beat Webb School of Knoxville in a best of 3 series!  Good luck to these boys!

    Track
    We had a great showing at the Regional Track tournament on Friday night.  Many of our Cougars will advance to the State Competition!

    • Boys 4×200: TJ Jenkins, Jarius Satterfield, Gregory Carter, Deiondre Wilson take first place and qualify for the State Tournament on May 22.
    • Boys 4×400: TJ Jenkins, Luke Page, Nick Whitlow and Jarius Satterfield placed first and qualify for the State Tournament on May 22.
    • Stone Norris place 5th in the 1600m & 8th place in the 3200m.
    • On the Girls side, Jayden Adolphin placed 4th in the 100M as well as the 200M, Morgan Crowley placed 6th in the 400M and Shay Conn placed 7th in 400M.
    • Girls 4x400m team of Ashley Roberts, Anna Sawyer, Shay Conn, & Morgan Crowley placed 5th.
    • Girls 4×100 of Jayden Adolphin, Ashley Roberts, Diamond Bryant, and Aliyah Wise placed second and qualified for State on May 22.
    • Girls 4×400 of Jayden Adolphin, Ashley Roberts, Diamond Bryant, and Aliyah Wise placed second and qualified for State on May 22.

    Intermediate Golf
    On Monday and Tuesday, Intermediate School Golf will be competing in the TMSGA Middle Region Tournament at Two Rivers Golf Course. We wish these students the best of luck!

     

    Cougar Store

    Coming this fall the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) will begin managing the Cougar Store.  This student organization will oversee the day-to-day operations as part of their service to our school.  To kick off this change, we are offering 50% off in the bookstore.  Please stop by and take advantage of this great sale!!!

    Academic Awards Program

    We are in the midst of sending out Academic Awards Ceremony invitations.  The Academic Awards Program is scheduled for Friday, May 17 at 9:00 A.M. in Clarksville Academy’s Activities Center.

     

    Senior Class Breakfast with the Head of School

    The senior class breakfast will also be held on the morning of May 17.  This will be at 7:15 A.M. in the Dorothy Martin Library and this event is only for members of the senior class and Mrs. Hinote.

    It’s that time of year! Mrs.Walker has the Wesley Smith Scholarship questionnaire. Please stop by and pick it up, fill it out, and return it for a chance to win $1,000.00. Remember, the winner is randomly selected by a drawing.

    We will have our last high school FCA meeting on May 8. It has been a wonderful year and we look forward to seeing everyone one last time!

    Congratulations to our Softball team for making it into Regional play.  They worked hard and had a wonderful season!  We are so proud of all they did!

    Tennis

    Our girl’s team, as well as doubles partners, Finn Shea  & Hayden Sturm, and Grace Parbs & Cheyenne Deibert make their way to Regionals this week!  Ayden Kujawa will also advance to Regionals after her first place win at Districts!  We wish the best of luck to these athletes!

    National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association

    The National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) is pleased to announce that Patrick Miller, Intermediate School Athletic Director at Clarksville Academy, has been recognized by this association as a Certified Athletic Administrator.

    To earn this distinction, Patrick has demonstrated the highest level of knowledge and expertise in the field of interscholastic athletic administration. The voluntary certification process included a thorough evaluation of the candidate’s educational background, experience and professional contributions, as well as a rigorous, comprehensive written examination.

    Patrick is one of an elite group of interscholastic athletic administrators nationwide to attain this level of professionalism.

    The NIAAA is a national professional organization consisting of all 50 state athletic administrator associations and more than 10,000 individual members.  It is dedicated to promoting the professional growth of high school athletic administrators and preserving the educational nature of interscholastic athletics and the place of these programs in the secondary school curriculum.

    State of the School

    Tuesday, April 30 will be the Upper School State of the School at 9:30AM and 5PM in the library. Come hear Mrs. Christmas discuss the new initiatives for the 2019-2020 school year to include the Winterim in January 2020, Freshman Seminar, changes to grading and more. Parents for students currently in grades 8, 9, 10, and 11 should attend!

    Teacher Appreciation Week

    April 30-May 3 has been named Teacher Appreciation week at CA. The CAPA will host daily meals and more for all our staff at Clarksville Academy. CAPA is asking each family to donate $15 toward preparing meals daily. Please send this in an envelope marked Teacher Appreciation. If you are interested in helping with Teacher Appreciation, please contact our Teacher Appreciation Chairs, Melinda Byard at cmbyard@charter.net or Regina Clift at rpclift@gmail.com.
     

    ASPIRE Testing

    ASPIRE testing for grades 3-8 will take place Monday, April 29-Thursday May 2. Testing will begin each morning. Students are asked to arrive on time and to have a number 2 pencil. Students in grades 6-8 should also bring a calculator. On Tuesday, April 30 9th & 10th grade students will complete the Pre-ACT. If you have questions regarding testing please contact Alicia McQueen or Denise Walker.

    Duck Stamp Art Competition

    We had 3 students compete in the National Junior Duck Stamp contest which received over 367 entries for the state of TN. Emily Boling (12th grade, Wood duck w/ Lilly) and Maggie Watkins (11th grade, Cinnamon Teal) both received Honorable Mention for their watercolor paintings. Stay tuned to our social media to see these wonderful watercolors. The ceremony honoring the winners was held at the Brentwood Library April 27th. Their artwork will be on display at the Brentwood Library the month of May.

    Congratulations to Ayden Kujawa who won the DII District 4 Singles Championship! Also to Grace Parbs & Cheyenne Deibert for placing 3rd in the DII District 4 Doubles. Congratulations to Finn Shea and Hayden Sturm who finished 4th in DII District 4 Doubles. They advance to the regional tournament on May 9th. Our varsity girls team has also qualified for Regional play and will begin their first match on April 30. Way to go Cougars!
     

    IS Baseball

    Congratulations to our Intermediate School Baseball team for winning the TIAA Championship!!!! These boys have had a wonderful season and we are so proud!

  • Crosby named Head Football Coach at Clarksville Academy.

    Clarksville, Tenn.Clarksville Academy, a Pre-K through 12thgrade private college preparatory school, announced Tuesday that Head Football Coach, JD Sellers will leave Clarksville Academy and that assistant coach, John Crosby will take over as Head Coach.

    Crosby, a 2001 graduate of Battle Ground Academy, is no stranger to private school athletics. Immediately upon his 2006 graduation from the University of Tennessee, Nashville Christian hired him.  In the past twelve years, he has worked as a defensive coordinator, won a 2015 state championship title, coached a top 10 scoring defense in the state for four consecutive seasons, was a member of the District 10 Staff of the Year twice (2013, 2014), and coached the Mr. Football finalist in 2015. In addition to those accomplishments, Crosby also helped to guide his team to a 59-9 record over a five-year period.  During his time at CA, Crosby increased our weight training program, served as the Head Strength coach and Defensive coordinator and inspired our players to be more on and off the field.  Head of School, Jennifer Hinote, “John has been an important part of our coaching staff for the past two years.  He has helped our team to grow both physically and mentally.  We are proud to have him step into the role of Head Coach and know he will be successful!”

    Crosby stated, “I am extremely honored to be named the next Head Coach at Clarksville Academy. Since I arrived here two years ago, we as a staff have worked extremely hard to build a culture that demonstrates the value of hard work. As this program continues to grow, the goal of CA football will be not only to win games, but to shape young men into being future leaders of society. I fully embrace the opportunity of leading this great program forward, and thank all involved for entrusting me to be the newest head football coach at Clarksville Academy. “

    Crosby has over ten years of teaching experience four of those were as Head of the Physical Education Department at NCS and he has been an integral part of the Physical Education department at CA.

    Sellers came to CA in 2017 from his post at Austin Peay State University.  During his time at CA, the varsity football team has made its way to the first round of the State Playoffs twice. “Coach Sellers has been an asset to our program for the last two seasons and we are sad to see him leave. We understand his desire to move closer to home and know he will be successful in Georgia,” Athletic Director, Jake Peterson commented. Sellers is accepting an assistant coach position and moving closer to his hometown of Baxley, GA.

    State of the School

    Wednesday, April 24 will be the Intermediate School State of the School at 11AM and 5PM in the library. Come hear Mrs. Burkhart discussed the new initiatives for the 2019-2020 school year.  Parents for students currently in grades 5, 6, 7 should attend!

    Upper School State of the School will be held on Tuesday, April 30 at 9:30 AM and 5 PM in the library. Mrs. Christmas will discuss new initiatives for the 2019-2020 school year to include the Winterim in January 2020, Freshman Seminar, changes to grading and more.  Parents of students currently enrolled in 8, 9, 10, and 11 should attend.

     

    PreK/ Kindergarten Social

    All current PreK and Kindergarten families are invited to a parent social at Lloyd and Jennifer Hinote’s house on Thursday, April 25 from 5-7PM.  This is a come and go event.  Childcare will be provided at CA by our Upper School students.  Please RSVP to Sally Allen by Wedneday, April 24.  Sallen@clarksvilleacademy.com.

    Steak Dinner

    What an excellent show!  Thank you to everyone who helped to make Steak Dinner a big success!  Congratulations to Mrs. Debbie Hollis on her 25th and final Steak Dinner.  We appreciate her dedication so much!  Thank you to Mrs. Hollis & Mrs. Thomas for such a wonderful show!  Thank you to Mrs. Dirksen & her staff for all their hard work in the kitchen.     State of the School

    Over the course of the next few weeks, we will host “State of the School” addresses for each of our divisions.  Beginning April 16 with the Lower School and ending April 30 with Upper School, each divisional Head of School along with Mrs. Hinote will host a town hall meeting revealing our new initiatives for the 2019-2020 school year.  This is something everyone will want to attend!  We will offer day and evening times.  Dates are listed below in the Important Dates section and an invitation will be sent via email very soon!

    This Thursday, April 18 is the Lower School Spelling Bee. Parents are invited to attend the Bee at 8:30 in the gym.

    Steak Dinner

    The 30th Annual Steak Dinner will be held on April 13, 2019, on Procter Court. Dinner will begin promptly at 6:00 PM. Join us for an evening of delicious food, great entertainment, and friends!

    Signature Painting
    This year we have had a Rob Hendon original donated to Steak Dinner.  For a chance to win this painting, patrons may make a $25 donation and be entered to win.  Donations can be made in the front office.  You do not have to present to win. Drawing will be made the night of the event.  You may also contact Sally Allen to purchase your chance to win.

    Anthony Taylor Productions will record the Steak Dinner performance this year.  Flash Drives with the performance on them are available for pre-order at $25 each.  Please contact Sally Allen to purchase yours. Please pre-order your video by April 11.
