Governor’s School

The 2016 Governor’s School applications are now available at: https://www.tn.gov/education/topic/tdoe-governors-schools

The Tennessee Governor’s Schools offer selected gifted and talented high school students intensive learning experiences on postsecondary campuses. Students in the tenth and eleventh grades who would like to participate in a challenging and high-intensity program in one of the twelve areas should speak with their school counselor. Each Governor’s School convenes a review/selection committee, which will select the students after all applications are submitted.

All applications must be submitted through Mrs. Denise Walker at least 1 week prior to the deadline. Please note, each school’s deadline is different. The deadlines range between November 6, 2015 through December 15, 2015. Please see me if you have questions.

Cougar Forensics

The Upper School Forensics Team competed at White House High School on Saturday. Freshmen Madison Hawkins and Hunter Kueter and sophomore Tashaunda Grimmett competed for the first time in Impromptu Speaking. Each commented on how much they enjoyed participating in this activity for the first time! Freshmen Tyler Jones again competed in Poetry Interpretation with a collection of poems by Shel Silverstein. Mrs. Baron is so proud of her new team and continues to look forward to their upcoming tournaments, including one on Halloween at Brentwood Academy. Please come out and support the Forensics Team’s booth at Fall Festival and help us fundraise for transportation and registration costs!

Photos

Many of you take photos at various events and activities around school. We encourage you to share these with our Marketing/PR office as well as our yearbook staff by using the email photos@clarksvilleacademy.com. This email is designed for students and parents to send pictures taken throughout the school year. W encourage you to caption your photo or to write a sentence or two with the event name, students pictured in the photo and the date it was taken. We do not guarantee that every photo will be used, but we look forward to seeing your pictures.

Box Tops & Campbell’s Labels

This is a reminder that CA collects Campbell’s labels and Box Tops through our CAA. The money raised from this project funds various school improvement projects. Last year we raised over $2000 through the Box Tops program alone! Please turn yours into your child’s teacher or Ms. Turnage in the front office.

We encourage you to download our mobile app from the App Store. We are currently only available on Apple products. This app will provide wonderful updates about what is going on at our school.
