National Honor Society & National Jr Honor Society Induction

This will take place on Thursday, February 26 at 9:30 AM on Procter Court. Family and friends are invited to attend.

 

Steak Dinner

With our recent days out of school and the inability to have weekend rehearsals on campus for this year’s performance at CA’s Annual An Evening with Friends Steak Dinner, the Steak Dinner committee has come to a decision that there is inadequate time for preparation to continue with our original March 7th show date.  Please make note that CA’s Annual An Evening with Friends Steak Dinner will now be on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at 6:00 P.M.  Tickets may be purchased through Mrs. Kari Turner in the front office.
 
You will receive a new RSVP card in the mail to replace the one you received earlier.  We apologize for any scheduling conflicts that this may have caused your family, but to have a top rate dinner and performance of this caliber, this decision was necessary.

We are currently undergoing reenrollment here at CA. Families should submit their reenrollment contracts before March 6. All returning families have their space secured for the 2015-2016 school year until March 6. After this date we will begin open enrollment for any student in our community. This is a reminder that CA collects Campbell’s labels and Box Tops through our CAA. The money raised from this project funds various school improvement projects. Last year we raised over $2000 through the Box Tops program alone! Please turn yours into your child’s teacher or Ms. Turnage in the front office.

Juniors-From Guidance

Dear Clarksville Academy Junior Parents,
Each year we have an informational meeting regarding college planning, college applications, scholarships, and much more for all of our juniors and/or their parents.  We would like to invite you to attend this meeting on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at 5:00 p.m.  The meeting will be held in Clarksville Academy’s Auxiliary gym.  We will have a representative from Austin Peay State University here to discuss Dual Enrollment between 5:00 p.m. and 5:30. The college planning presentation will immediately follow that presentation.

Expanding the Experience

Clarksville Academy is still very excited about our expansion plans! As you can see a new expansion is slated to open January 2015 and is adjacent to the main building. This expansion is really booming on the north end of our campus and we are thrilled with the process! In this expanded part of the main building we have the opportunity for a few more classrooms to be named. We have had a few families reserve naming rights on some of the classrooms, but still have a couple left. If you are interested in honoring or memorializing someone in this way, please contact Sally Allen at sallen@clarksvilleacademy.com or 647-6311. These won’t last long.

Our hope is to have the new building shown below completed by 2020. We need your help do this! Contact Sally Allen at sallen@clarksvilleacademy.com to find out what you can do to help us reach our goal.

1st Grade

You are invited to the First Grade Pet Show! Friday. February 20, 2015 at 9AM on Procter Court

First Grade celebrated 101 Days of schools this week. The students celebrated by dressing like the 101 Dalmatians and sharing in a yummy snack.

 

Science

This week in Science Lab, Second Grade students concluded their study of how the earth’s surface can change quickly.  We examined volcano models, and then created our own eruption. We discovered the different components of a volcano.

Winter Dance

On Saturday, February 21st from 6-9PM there will be an Intermediate School Dance.  The dance is semiformal and will take place in the school’s auxiliary gym.  No advance tickets will be sold.  Just bring five dollars to pay as you enter the dance.  If you have any questions, please contact Amy Minton at aminton@clarksvilleacademy.com.

FUSE

Fifth grade FUSE Science students participated in a webquest on their iPads to research acids and bases. They also created secret messages for each other using a base and revealed them using an indicator.

 
Fourth grade FUSE Science students created water prisms to separate white light.
 

 

Science Lab

Third graders learn about seed dispersal.  They investigated how seeds travel on animals.  Using a variety of faux fur, they distributed assorted seeds to determine which seeds cling to animal fur and relocate to populate other areas within ecosystems.  Seeds included cockleburs, hitchhikers, winged maple seeds, winged trumpet creeper seeds.  Vocabulary words were pollination, seed dispersal, & adaptation.

Builders Club

Builder’s Club will meet on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 7:20 AM in Mrs. Jacobsen’s room.

 

Top Swimmer

Congratulations to Michael Glassson for placing first in the Middle TN Swimming Championships on Saturday. Michael competed against swimmers from all over Middle TN and came out the winner in the 100 Breast Stroke competition. He went on place 4th in the 50 Free Style missing 3rd by only .02 seconds. Michael will now compete in the Southeastern Championship in March. Congratulations!

 

Ice Cream Social

The CBL Group Walkie Talkies are hosting an Ice Cream Social on Monday, February 2nd at 4:30. This will take place during our home basketball game. Tickets will go on sale Thursday, Jan. 29 – Monday, Feb 2nd. at a cost of 5 dollars.   This health-centered group is raising awareness for Social Health and all proceeds will benefit the ReBoot Fort Campbell program.

 

Spelling Bee

New Addition

As you have seen the new addition at the far end of campus is nearing completion. This week landscaping will go in to complete our look. Students began classes this week in their new classrooms. Intermediate School classes take place on the top floor, with our English department hosting classes on the bottom floor. The new Help Desk along with Cara Miller’s office is located downstairs as well. We look forward to our Parent Open House on February 5, 2015. More detailed information will be mailed soon.
