Congratulations to Ahauve Orusa, who auditioned and was selected for the Tennessee Mid-State Choir. She was one of over 200 sopranos who auditioned and only 50 were selected for the choir.

High school students interested in attending Austin Peay State University will get the opportunity to see the campus first hand and possibly win a $3,000 scholarship during the University’s AP Day on Saturday Oct. 6.
Students who qualify for unconditional admission to APSU for the Fall 2013 semester are eligible for the scholarship drawing. The submission of their AP Day evaluation form will serve as their ticket for the drawing, and the winner will be announced during that evening’s football game against rival Murray State.
AP Day serves as an open house that allows guests to tour the campus and meet with professors and current APSU students. Prospective students and their parents will meet with staff from the Admissions, Financial Aid, Housing/Residence Life, and Student Life and Leadership offices. Students and guests will also hear from APSU administrators, the Student Government Association president and other campus leaders and students.
Check-in for the event is 12:30 p.m. that Saturday in the Foy Fitness and Recreation Center. Signs will direct guests to the center. Official AP Day activities end at 5 p.m., but guests can stick around to tour residence halls, talk with staff from financial aid, housing and admissions and check out the bookstore.
Students wishing to attend that day’s football game for free need to request ticket vouchers when they sign up online for AP Day. The scholarship winner will be announced during the game, but students do not need to be present to win.
The University will also host another AP Day on Nov. 3.

Fall softball conditioning began last Monday. Conditioning is Mondays and Wednesdays starting at 5:30pm. Ladies in fall sports are excused from conditioning.
Sophomores & Juniors
Dear Clarksville Academy 10th & 11th Grade Parents:
On Saturday, October 20, 2012, from 8:00-11:30 A.M., Clarksville Academy will administer the PSAT to all 10th and 11th graders who wish to participate. This test is scheduled nationally by the College Board and is given on the same dates and times throughout the country.
As you may be aware, the reasons for administering the PSAT are twofold. One, it is given in an effort to prepare the students for their upcoming SAT assessments. Two, it is used as a qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program. We recommend that your child take the assessment if he or she is a potential merit scholar candidate or if he or she plans on attending a college or university that requires SAT scores for admission.
All students in 10th and 11th grade will be given the Official Student Guide to the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) within the next few days. Included in that guide is a full length practice test to be completed at home by your child at your discretion.
If you and your child decide to sign up for the test, the deadline to sign up is Thursday, September 27, 2012. The fee for the PSAT is $15.00 and should be paid in the guidance office no later than Thursday, October 4, 2012.
For optimum performance, it is imperative that your child be prepared for this assessment. Please be sure to impress upon your child the importance of sufficient sleep and a nutritious breakfast. Additionally, your child should bring the following items with him or her on the morning of the test:
*several number 2 pencils, sharpened, with erasers
*a calculator (see approved calculators in the student handbook and on the website)
*pencil sharpener (not electric or battery operated)
*sweater or sweatshirt (the testing room may be cool on that morning)
