Heritage Bank Announces Clay Goad as Player of the Week

Carla Allison from Heritage Bank and Head Clay-Goad-Football-Player-of-the-weekCoach Todd Hood recently presented senior Clay Goad with the Player of the Week Award for the week of September 7, 2012.   Clay received this award because of his outstanding performance in the Mount Juliet Christian Academy game. Clay was a man wearing many hats. He had two receiving touchdowns, one punt return for a touchdown, one kick-off return for a touchdown, one interception, one PAT, one 44 yard field goal, and two touch backs as our kicker which accounted for 340 total yards in the Cougars 65 to 0 win against the Saints.

“Clay continues to improve every week,” said Coach Hood. “Clay plays many positions for us and he excels at them all. His performance last Friday night was one to remember.”

The Cougars are back on the road this week as they travel to East Robertson to take on the Indians in district play. Come join us Cougar fans!!! Kick-off is 7:30.

But Clay isn’t the only CA player to receive recent accolades.

The week before,  Nolan Blake was named Heritage Bank Player of the Week for August 31, 2012.   Nolan received this award because of his outstanding performance in the District 10A showdown with Nashville Christian School.  Nolan’s punting propelled the Cougars to a 29 to 14 victory and his performance showed why he was a preseason All-State selection. Nolan had four punts for an average of 47 yards. He had two punts inside the 5 yard line and one inside the 10 yard line.

“Nolan’s punting Friday night was nothing less than spectacular,” said Coach Hood.” I think Nolan has been upset because he hasn’t punted in the first two games. So I will try to upset him more often,”  joked Coach Hood.  “Field position in that type of a game is huge and his punts were spot on. I expect some college coaches to start calling me very soon. Nolan has been punting for us since he was a sophomore and he has improved every year. This year after some lessons over the summer he has improved his punting to a much higher level.”

In addition, CA’s own TravisSwails-Player-of-the-week Swails was named 5 Star Radio & Charter Communications Player of the Week the week of August 31, 2012.

Great job CA Cougars!  Keep up the great work!
