School Closing Immediately

November 6, 2012

Dear Cougar Parent or Guardian,

Today we had an increased number of student and faculty/staff absences due to illness.  The majority of our sick have had symptoms that include headache, congestion, fever, and nausea.  There has been an increase in these illnesses in our community.  Strep and influenza have been confirmed in many of these cases.

Because these illnesses are easily spread and the high percentage of our absentees, school will be canceled from tomorrow, Wednesday November 7th, until we return from our holiday on Tuesday, November 13th.  This should serve as adequate time to allow students to recover and break this illness cycle.

As a reminder, our school guidelines for illness are as follows:

Students who exhibit flu-like signs will be asked to stay home for 7 days from the beginning date of symptoms or until the student is completely well and without fever for 24 hours.

Please refer to your student’s email or planner for communication from the teachers about assignments and timelines for work to be completed while we are closed.  Schoolwork should be secondary to student wellness.

The school website and student email will serve as our means of communication during this time period.  Please email teachers with any questions or concerns relating to assignments.  Please contact Coaches with any questions or concerns about practices or games.

We appreciate your continued cooperation and support as we work together to reduce the spread of illness at Clarksville Academy.

Sincerely,

Kay Drew
