Nick Craig is a 2003 graduate of Clarksville Academy. Upon graduating from Austin Peay State University in 2007, Nick received his commission from APSU as a Second Lieutenant in the Aviation Branch of the United States Army. Nick completed Army Flight School as a UH-60 Black Hawk Pilot in 2009, volunteered for and completed Ranger School, and was assigned to the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade of the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, KY. He deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan from 2010-2011 as the primary aviation unit involved with the President’s surge to secure southern Afghanistan, the birthplace of the Taliban. Since returning from Afghanistan, Nick married Julie Ritsema of Charlotte, MI. The two met while volunteering for an alternative spring break in March 2007 to assist with the hurricane relief efforts in Louisiana. In 2011 he successfully assessed for the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR) at Fort Campbell, KY. He left the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade and attended the Aviation Captain’s Career Course at Fort Rucker, Alabama. Following completion of this course, he returned to Fort Campbell, KY where he is currently assigned to the 160th SOAR. Captain Craig’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Action Badge, Army Aviator Badge, Ranger Tab, Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge.
