1st Grade

1st Grade had a wonderful time exploring two new apps with their teachers and Mrs. Hendrix. They used Popplet to create a “mind map” to classify nouns as people or animals. Then, students turned in their virtual work through Showbie. The students loved this exercise — and especially loved searching for things to include in the mind map. We hope to use these apps again soon to help expand our minds – – and our ways of learning!

Here are some photos from the activity, as well as directions for logging on to Showbie to see your child’s Noun Popplet.

2nd Grade

Ms. Traughber’s and Mrs. Clemments’ second graders did several group activities exploring the size and shape of pattern blocks. They also used pattern blocks to demonstrate their knowledge of ordinal positions.

Students in Second grade learned about polygons and arranged their polygons into different objects, items, shapes, and people.  They wrote stories about the pictures they created in Math Lab with Mrs. Goostree.

Third Grade

Third grade determines mealworms responses, using lesson vocabulary words: organism, respond, environment, & communicate

Third Graders, Bentley Clift and Rachael Austin Observing how mealworms respond to their environment.

Lillie Pugh and Rebekah Hass have fun exploring mealworms.

5th grade FUSE Social Studies students work to research and create newscasts as a reflection of their CSI Lost Colony of Roanoke Investigations. Next week they will use the News Booth app on their iPads as they film one another’s reports!

Box Tops & Campbell’s Labels

This is a reminder that CA collects Campbell’s labels and Box Tops through our CAA. The money raised from this project funds various school improvement projects. Last year we raised over $2000 through the Box Tops program alone! Please turn yours into your child’s teacher or Ms. Turnage in the front office.
