Lower School Christmas Program

If you are not in the “Holiday Spirit” you will be by the time our Lower School Students perform for you their Christmas program, “In The Spirit”. The Performance will be held on December 19th @ 8:30 a.m. in the main gym. “Brio”, a string ensemble, will perform throughout the program along with special instrumental performances by some of our 5th grade students. A “big celebration” will take place at the end of our performance as we sing, “In The Spirit”. Don’t miss the fun!

Christmas Parties

Each class will have an end of the year Christmas party next week. Please see your child’s classroom newsletter for more details. The Christmas ornament your child made for the CA tree will also be sent home on Thursday, December 18 for you to enjoy on your tree!

Kindergarten students used their iPads this week with their Q R codes. When the student scanned the code a sentence came up. The student had to read the sentence, write the sentence, and then illustrate the sentence. Their assignment was to do 2 sentences, however, most of the students enjoyed it so much they asked for paper to do more.

1st Grade

First Graders began their unit on Natural Resources.  We investigated items in nature that we use.  Students classified rocks in 3 ways, by size, by color, and by texture.  Students got to measure and weigh coal samples, each student said they were not expecting to see ‘Coal from Santa’ or his elves.

Third Grade

Officer Wilson and Leo presented a program to third grade. Third graders read the story Areo and Officer Mike in their reading class. It’s about a day in the life of a police officer and his K9 partner.

4th Grade

Fourth grade FUSE Science students learned the difference between physical and chemical changes through a variety of hands-on experiments.

5th Grade

Fifth grade received a visit from Officer Granderson, facilitator of the GREAT (Gang Resistance Education And Training) program for Clarksville/Montgomery County.  Sharing tips and strategies for making healthy choices in life, Office Granderson taught students through role-playing, questioning, and demonstrating strength exercises.

Fifth grade FUSE Science students experimented with freezing, melting, and boiling points this week. They also participated in an expansion/contraction lab.

Box Tops & Campbell’s Labels

This is a reminder that CA collects Campbell’s labels and Box Tops through our CAA. The money raised from this project funds various school improvement projects. Last year we raised over $2000 through the Box Tops program alone! Please turn yours into your child’s teacher or Ms. Turnage in the front office.
