CBL Kickoff— September 26, marked the Kick off for our 2014 -2015 Intermediate School Challenge Based Learning.  Our Intermediate School students began their day with the Upper School students in a Challenge Based Learning Assembly uniting CA’s 6 – 12 Grades. Then, Eight Facilitators introduced 161 Intermediate School students to their CBL focus for the year.  We have 4 Big Ideas entitled:

Our first CBL day found our HONOR group (under the direction of Mrs. Hinson and Coach Williams) and our HUMANITIES group (under the direction of Mrs. McQueen and Mrs. Minton) and painting commemorative tiles.  These 2 groups spent part of  their CBL day investigating phrases that symbolize Strength, Endurance, Hope, Peace, and Valor.  Students sketched images, and then painted 4 x 4 tiles as part of “Honoring those who Serve” through Art.   Under the direction of Mrs. Burger and Mrs. Jacobsen, the Column of HEALTH, began narrowing down ways they could support our off campus affiliation with the REBOOT organization.  They also have plans to assist with HEALTH in both personal and environmental ways throughout the CBL year.  Leading our Column of HOUSING, Coach Edlin and Mrs. Goad’s group began investigating how they can use the CBL format with regard to housing.  They are in the initial stages of a project affiliated with AARP, among other projects featuring student led investigation.

Our CBL day began with 161 IS students, who divided in 4 groups, then subdivided into teams, creating small groups,  and defining roles for team members.  Student led groups moved from Big Ideas and Essential questions, as they narrowed down how they will collaborate together while engaging in learning and serving our community in Clarksville Academy’s 4 Columns of Tribute.
Well done Intermediate School Students and Facilitators!

FCA will meet each Wednesday at 7:15 in Tecia Hinson’s room. Everyone is invited.

Box Tops & Campbell’s Labels

This is a reminder that CA collects Campbell’s labels and Box Tops through our CAA. The money raised from this project funds various school improvement projects. Last year we raised over $2000 through the Box Tops program alone! Please turn yours into your child’s teacher or Ms. Turnage in the front office.
