Clarksville Academy - Promoting Academic Excellence, Moral Integrity, Physical Growth, and Civic Responsibility

For the Record: Spring Message from Kay Drew

For The Record…

Maya Angelou once said,Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency.  We can’t be kind, true, merciful, generous or honest.”  Courage is a virtue that we strive to instill in your student daily.  Education is all about going (in mind, body or spirit) where one hasn’t been before.  It’s about cultivating the natural curiosity that students bring to the learning process and giving them the courage and confidence to follow the paths where their observations and questions lead.  We encourage them to pursue their dreams and to be open to the growth and learning that comes with new experiences.  Clarksville Academy students have the opportunity each day to develop courage in the context of learning in academics, technology, fitness, the arts, athletics, and community service.

CA_shield_02For the Record… We have had a wonderful year.  So many exciting things have happened over the course of this school year and it is only going to get better.  We saw peak enrollments and also wait listed some of our grades this year.   We instituted the Apple 1:1 program for our upper school students and have given them an educational experience like no other.  We’ve had champions in sports competitions, the Montgomery County Spelling Bee, APSU Science Fair, National Latin test, Math Competition and more.  Our lower school students have had wonderful experiences with our school wide Polar Express and Dr. Seuss days, the spelling bee, musical programs for parents and much, much more.  We’ve named both our football field and our basketball court after two very deserving families.  Our senior football parents banded together and raised the money to build the Marisa Maples Hood Memorial practice field at the sports complex, which all sports will enjoy. And the year isn’t over yet!

For the Record… Our future is just as bright as our past.  Our summer camp program is going strong for the third consecutive year.  We’ve added some new and different camps this year and encourage each of you to check the website often as we are continually adding more.  We’ve had 92% re-enrollment for the 2012-2013 school year.  This tells us that you all believe in what we are doing at CA and trust that your child is receiving a top-notch education.  Our Board of Trustees is currently reviewing architecture firms and designs for a building expansion on our campus.  This will allow us more space to better serve your students.  Intermediate School students will receive iPad3s in August, which will be used in each of their classes throughout the next school year.  This introduction of technology into their classrooms will encourage their curiosity and their thirst for outside of the box learning.  All teachers, Pre-K through 12th grade will also be issued iPad3s and will be encouraged to incorporate them into their daily classroom activities.  Next fall we will offer a revamped extended care.  A structured schedule of snack (or breakfast), play, rest, homework, and enrichment will be available.  This will enable our parents who need to be at work before or after we open to know their child is safe with us, and that he/she is enjoying their time before or after the school day.

CA_letterman_clarksville-academy-tennesseeFor the Record… Education is the foundation of your child’s future.  We strive to give your child a firm foundation that will have lasting impact.  Just as we encourage our students to investigate new pathways, we as a school, must always look beyond our past accomplishments and see the roads that will lead us to a strong and dynamic future.  Clarksville Academy is moving toward an expansion plan that will not only add updated facilities to our existing campus, but give us the room to grow while maintaining our small class sizes.  We are excited about this step toward our future and ask that you join us on this path.  It will take the love, encouragement and financial support of each of our CA family members in order for this dream to become a reality.

For the Record… I’m proud to be a Cougar.  I’m proud of the heritage we have in the Clarksville community. I’m even more proud and more than that excited, about the bright future we have ahead of us.  Now is the time to be a Cougar!  We are so glad you are joining us on this amazing journey!
