This week students have been using the app, Popplet. Popplet is a tool that allows users to visualize ideas. Teachers and students can create graphic organizers, timelines, and many other forms of visual organization. Our teachers have taken what this “mind mapping” app can do and turned it into engaging activities for their students!
In 4th Grade, Mrs. Morgan is using Popplet in her Social Studies class. The students created a graphic organizer as a cumulative assessment, showing what they have learned about the Mayan Civilization and the 4 theories about their disappearance. Students choose images to add to their “popples” too! When each student was ready to turn in their test, they uploaded it into Showbie and it was ready for Mrs. Morgan and parents to review- Way to go 4th grade!!
In 3rd Grade, Mrs. Williams used Popplet for her social studies students to create a timeline of Clarksville History. Students were able to choose events in our city’s history to share. They also chose images for each event! After finishing, students uploaded their timelines into Showbie to share with Mrs. Williams and their parents!
In 5th Grade, Mrs. Knight has thought of a creative way to practice elapsed time with her math students! She is using Popplet for students to create their own dream schedule. They each had time to brainstorm their perfect day, activities, and times. Students then created a “popple” for each activity with photos and drawings too! The students loved this “out of the box” activity! This was a great way to help make learning this math concept more engaging and interactive!
