Magazine Sales

Magazine Sales kicked off last week with a fun filled assembly!  This is such an important fundraiser for our school and we know that each family will join us in our efforts to SELL, SELL, SELL!  We ask that every child sell at least 10 magazines to help us reach our goal of $52,000!  When we reach that school wide goal, we will receive FRIDAY, OCTOBER 5 as a FULL DAY OFF!  Fall break will begin a day early!  Along with this, your child can receive many great prizes, our classrooms receive additional financial support based on the percentage of magazines sold in their classes, and our school receives the much needed support of our families.  The library will also have a list of needed magazines posted on a board outside their doors for those who wish to donate a magazine for school use.  Magazines can be purchased online through the link on our website and both paper and e-copies of magazines are available! All students who sell 5 magazines will receive a new BLUE Cougar shirt which will be the perfect thing for Friday night’s game! MONDAY, September 17 is the LAST turn-in date.

School Photo Day

School photos will be taken on Tuesday, September 18.

Fine Arts Show

Intermediate school students involved in Drama Rotation, Choir Rotation, and Percussion Rotation classes will have a night of performance to show what they have learned during class. The Fine Arts Intermediate Showcase will take place on Thursday, September 20 at 5:30 PM in the foyer. We invite everyone to join us!

Smart Cards

If you haven’t yet purchased your Smart Card from a CA Senior, you can still do so!  Please see Ms. Turnage in the foyer!  This card has wonderful discounts and coupons to a variety of places throughout Montgomery County! They are $15 and won’t last long!

Parking

A reminder that all spots to the left of the grassy median (with the fountain) are reserved faculty parking spots.  The spots directly in front of school are also reserved administration spots.  The first 3 spaces closest to the school are reserved for visitors to our campus.  Parents are encouraged to park in the spaces along side the hill leading up from the Batson (Extended Care) Building.  Parents should not park on Anderson Drive or in front of school during drop-off or pick-up.  Students should be ready to exit the vehicle prior to pulling up to the front of school during drop-off. This will enable us to keep the flow of traffic going.  If your child is not ready to exit the vehicle, please pull into one of the above mentioned parking spaces.  Thank you.

Football Time

Join us Friday night at Simpson Field where our 5-0 Cougars will take on Portland!  Kick-off is at 7:30 PM.  Can’t make the game?  Listen LIVE on WJZM 1400 AM or watch it on iHigh.

Tailgating Alley

Tailgating was a HUGE success this past week and we’ve expanded our Tailgate Ally!  Tailgating at Simpson field will be done in the area between Wes Smith Baseball Field and Simpson field.  All spots must be reserved and will be on a first come first serve basis.  Over flow tailgating will be in the area facing Burchett Softball Field.  For reservations contact Theresia Burchett at tburchett@clarksvilleacademy.com with your name, email and family names of those tailgating in your tailgate spot.  (Each family can reserve one spot that can include multiple families if you prefer.) Special request for specific slots or neighbors are welcome, but not guaranteed.  Slots for all home games, can be made 2 weeks prior to the next game.  Reservations can be made now for September 21 & 28.  Many of the slots are already reserved so make sure you get yours today! Once your reservation is made, you will receive an email confirmation and parking pass from Theresia Burchett.  Please make sure you receive an email confirmation.  If you have not, we may not have your reservation.  We encourage everyone to tailgate an support our Cougars!

Lower School Art

Like our Lower School Art Facebook Page! Mrs. Lawless is collecting bottle caps of all sizes and colors for an art project.  Please save your bottle caps and bring in a Ziploc bag to lower school art.  Towards the end of September, fourth graders are going to be designing and constructing scarecrows. We are in need of old Halloween costumes, old clothes, hats, gloves, etc. We will take anything that might make a scarecrow come to life. All donations will be appreciated! Send in with your child or leave at front desk with Mrs. Turnage for Mrs. Lawless.

Box Tops & Campbell’s Labels

This is a reminder that CA collects Campbell’s labels and Box Tops through our CAA.  The money raised from this project funds various school improvement projects.  Last year we raised over $1500 through the Box Tops program alone!  Please turn yours into your child’s teacher or Ms. Turnage in the front office.

Emergency Cards

Please return emergency cards to the front office, your child’s classroom teacher, or your child’s class sponsor, by Wednesday, August 22.  State law mandates that we have this important information on file for every student who attends Clarksville Academy. You can find the form online at: https://clarksvilleacademy.com/tcg/wp-content/uploads/CA-new-student-info-sheet-2012-2013.pdf

We will be meeting on Wednesday mornings at 7:15 a.m. Please come and be a part of FCA, everyone is welcome! You do not have to be an athlete to participate in FCA.

Fall Festival

Fall Festival is right around the corner and a meeting will be held on Monday, September 17 at 2PM to discuss the class booths.  Below is a list of the class baskets.  We ask that each class/grade donate items for their basket.  Class baskets are auctioned off during the fall festival.  The money raised is donated to CAA, which has many school improvement activities throughout the year.  Please see your classroom with questions or email Tricia Wallace to register your booth: twallace@clarksvilleacademy.com.
