All School News for October 22-28, 2012

Fall Festival, Saturday, October 27

Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, October 27 from 10AM-3PM on our campus.  This is a wonderful event with many exciting games and activities for your child and a variety of vendors for you to visit!  We encourage everyone to take part in the festival and the basket & silent auctions.  All proceeds raised will benefit the individual class or organization hosting the booth.  We are asking that each visitor bring a canned food donation as entry to the fall festival.  All donations will be delivered to the Fire House Shelter pantry. This is a wonderful way to show your school spirit!

Prior to the festival beginning we will have the annual Fun Run.  The Fun Run begins at 9:30 and will leave from the front of school. We ask that you pre-register by Monday if you would like to receive the Fun Run shirt.  Any registrations after Monday will not receive the shirt.  (Students may walk up and register on race day.)

Fun Run shirt sponsorships  are available for families or businesses.  Please see all forms which are available on the website at: http://clarksvilleacademy.com/news-events/fall-festival/.

Silent Auction baskets will be available for viewing in the main hallway of the lower school beginning on Tuesday through Friday.  We ask that you stop by and browse the selection!  Bidding will take place on Saturday on Procter Court with bidding ending at 2:30.

School Photo Re-Take Day

We will have re-takes for school yearbook photos on Tuesday, October 23 beginning at 8:30 in the gym.  LifeTouch Retake requirements: If your child was present and had their picture made on the first School Photo day, and did not like the PROOF or PACKAGE they received they MUST bring the envelope to the LifeTouch Photographer for retakes.  If you did not take a photo last time, packet information will be available.

Cross Country News

Cross Country Team ran a had a great race Saturday at the Christian County Invitational. Bailey Foote took 11th out of 150 runners. The CA boys once again each achieved a Personal Best with Owen Johnson having the top male score for CA in what was essentially a head to head finish with his team mate Adrian Ortiz that finished with a two second difference.

Bowling has a home match at 4 at the Pinnacle with a home match against East Robertson.  Thursday we travel to White House Heritage.  Join us as we cheer on our team!

Builder’s Club/After Care

The Builder’s Club and After Care groups worked together to help beautify CA’s campus.  The beautification/flower planting project was inspired by the book “Miss Rumphius”, written by Barbara Cooney, they are reading in after care.  It tells of a woman who gave back to her community through sharing the beauty of flowers & plants.  Builder’s Club members not only helped by cleaning our campus but by being positive role models for the younger children to inspire them to give back to their community as well. Phase 2 of this project will begin this week as the children plant flowers!  Stay tuned!

Science Fun

Our lower school science classes are participating in an experiment of the week with Mrs. Askew.  Throughout the semester she will video these and we will post them on our Clarksville Academy YouTube Channel.  We encourage you to go out and watch these videos weekly.

A reminder that all spots to the left of the grassy median (with the fountain) are reserved faculty parking spots.  The spots directly in front of school are also reserved administration spots.  The first 3 spaces closest to the school are reserved for visitors to our campus.  Parents are encouraged to park in the spaces along side the hill leading up from the Batson (Extended Care) Building.  Parents should not park on Anderson Drive or in front of school during drop-off or pick-up.  Students should be ready to exit the vehicle prior to pulling up to the front of school during drop-off. This will enable us to keep the flow of traffic going.  If your child is not ready to exit the vehicle, please pull into one of the above mentioned parking spaces.  Thank you.

Lower School Art

Like our Lower School Art Facebook Page! Mrs. Lawless is collecting bottle caps of all sizes and colors for an art project.  Please save your bottle caps and bring in a Ziploc bag to lower school art.

Box Tops & Campbell’s Labels

This is a reminder that CA collects Campbell’s labels and Box Tops through our CAA.  The money raised from this project funds various school improvement projects.  Last year we raised over $1500 through the Box Tops program alone!  Please turn yours into your child’s teacher or Ms. Turnage in the front office.

Please join Fellowship of Christian Athletes on Wednesdays for our meeting! This year Upper school FCA will meet in Coach Holt’s classroom #118 (under the gym) and Intermediate school FCA will meet in Mrs. Hinson’s classroom #128. We will be meeting on Wednesday mornings at 7:15 a.m. Please come and be a part of FCA, everyone is welcome! You do not have to be an athlete to participate in FCA.

Lunch Menu

We have gone completely online for lunch ordering.  The following link will enable you to order your child’s lunch online. Please remember that all students must pre-order when eating from the hot lunch line (this includes all those who have pre-paid for an entire year of lunches) and that students will be charged for a lunch if ordered unless they are absent.  These new online forms will go out on Monday and will be requested back by no later than Wednesday of that week. Please send hot lunch payments in a Ziploc bag or envelope clearly marked with your child’s name, grade and teacher.  We are so excited about this new process and hope you will be too!  Please contact Ms. Tooley at lunch@clarksvilleacademy.com.
