All School News for October 15-21, 2012

Congratulations!

AnnaMichelle Moore & Bailey Foote for your wonderful performance at the State Golf Tournament.  AnnaMichelle tied for 6th place, while Bailey had a Top 30 finish.  Both represented CA well and we couldn’t be more proud!

Congratulations to Sedona Tooley for being named to the All District Team and All Tournament Team in Volleyball.  Last week’s District Tournament wrapped up the current volleyball season!  Great job ladies!

Football News

The Cougars are currently ranked #1 in the District after an amazing win against Jo Byrns on Friday!  This week is our bye-week, but join us in McEwen next Friday, October 26 with a 7:30 kickoff.  We will take a spirit bus (if we have enough interest).  Sign up will be posted on Ms. Turnage’s desk.  Please sign up ASAP.  Students must be in Intermediate/Upper School to ride the spirit bus.

Jaleel Stubbs, Heritage Bank Player of The Week—10/12

Carla Allison from Heritage Bank and Head Coach Todd Hood presented sophomore Jaleel Stubbs with the Player of the Week Award. Jaleel received this award because of his performance in the Jo Byrns game on October 12th. Jaleel had 9 tackles and 1 pass break up from his cornerback position. He also rushed for 2 touchdowns and had a 55 yard kick-off return.

Jaleel-Stubbs“Jaleel has excelled at every position that we have ask him to play this year,” said Coach Hood. “He has played receiver, tight end, running back and it only took him 3 days to win the starting job at cornerback. His work ethic, determination and drive to help our team be successful has been contagious and he is a great kid to coach.”

The Cougars are open this week and will travel to McEwen next week to face the Warriors in a key 10A District battle. If the Cougars win they would repeat as district champions. This would be a phenomenal feat considering losing so many seniors last year and the key injuries they have had this year. Game time is 7:30pm. Come out and support your COUGARS!!!!

Austin Eposito, Heritage Bank Player of the Week – 10/5austin-esposito

Carla Allison from Heritage Bank and Head Coach Todd Hood presented senior Austin Esposito with the Player of the Week Award.   Austin received this award because of his performance in the Houston County game on October 5th.   Austin had 13 tackles and 1 sack from his defensive tackle position.

“Austin has really improved over the last two years,” said Coach Hood. Austin understands his role on the team and goes full speed all the time. Austin has battled through a few injuries this year but, his determination and effort has always been there.”

Bowling Kickoff

The Bowling season begins today at 4 at the Pinnacle with a home match against White House Heritage.  Join us as we cheer on our team!  Thursday we travel to White House.

Homecoming

Be on the lookout for our Homecoming Photo Gallery.  It will feature some of the winners of our Homecoming Activities and other fun photos.

Science Fun

Our lower school science classes are participating in an experiment of the week with Mrs. Askew.  Throughout the semester she will video these and we will post them on our Clarksville Academy YouTube Channel.  We encourage you to go out and watch these videos weekly.

Parking

A reminder that all spots to the left of the grassy median (with the fountain) are reserved faculty parking spots.  The spots directly in front of school are also reserved administration spots.  The first 3 spaces closest to the school are reserved for visitors to our campus.  Parents are encouraged to park in the spaces along side the hill leading up from the Batson (Extended Care) Building.  Parents should not park on Anderson Drive or in front of school during drop-off or pick-up.  Students should be ready to exit the vehicle prior to pulling up to the front of school during drop-off. This will enable us to keep the flow of traffic going.  If your child is not ready to exit the vehicle, please pull into one of the above mentioned parking spaces.  Thank you.

Lower School Art

Like our Lower School Art Facebook Page! Mrs. Lawless is collecting bottle caps of all sizes and colors for an art project.  Please save your bottle caps and bring in a Ziploc bag to lower school art.  Towards the end of September, fourth graders are going to be designing and constructing scarecrows. We are in need of old Halloween costumes, old clothes, hats, gloves, etc. We will take anything that might make a scarecrow come to life. All donations will be appreciated! Send in with your child or leave at front desk with Mrs. Turnage for Mrs. Lawless.

Box Tops & Campbell’s Labels

This is a reminder that CA collects Campbell’s labels and Box Tops through our CAA.  The money raised from this project funds various school improvement projects.  Last year we raised over $1500 through the Box Tops program alone!  Please turn yours into your child’s teacher or Ms. Turnage in the front office.

Emergency Cards

Please return emergency cards to the front office, your child’s classroom teacher, or your child’s class sponsor, by Wednesday, August 22.  State law mandates that we have this important information on file for every student who attends Clarksville Academy. You can find the form online at: https://clarksvilleacademy.com/tcg/wp-content/uploads/CA-new-student-info-sheet-2012-2013.pdf

FCA

Please join Fellowship of Christian Athletes on Wednesdays for our meeting! This year Upper school FCA will meet in Coach Holt’s classroom #118 (under the gym) and Intermediate school FCA will meet in Mrs. Hinson’s classroom #128. We will be meeting on Wednesday mornings at 7:15 a.m. Please come and be a part of FCA, everyone is welcome! You do not have to be an athlete to participate in FCA.

Fall Festival

Below is a list of the class baskets.  We ask that each class/grade donate items for their basket.  Class baskets are auctioned off during the fall festival.  The money raised is donated to CAA, which has many school improvement activities throughout the year.  Please see your classroom with questions or email Tricia Wallace to register your booth: twallace@clarksvilleacademy.com.

We have gone completely online for lunch ordering.  The following link will enable you to order your child’s lunch online. Please remember that all students must pre-order when eating from the hot lunch line (this includes all those who have pre-paid for an entire year of lunches) and that students will be charged for a lunch if ordered unless they are absent.  These new online forms will go out on Monday and will be requested back by no later than Wednesday of that week. Please send hot lunch payments in a Ziploc bag or envelope clearly marked with your child’s name, grade and teacher.  We are so excited about this new process and hope you will be too!  Please contact Ms. Tooley at lunch@clarksvilleacademy.com.
