Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (Hoby) Award
Each year Clarksville Academy is allowed to select a Clarksville Academy Sophomore to represent our school at the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) Seminar. HOBY is the nation’s foremost youth leadership development organization. HOBY programs provide youth with unique leadership training to make a better world. The seminar allows students to recognize their leadership talents and apply them in becoming effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, and community. Congratulations to Evelyn Turner, the primary HOBY representative, and Shelby Pendergrast, the alternate HOBY representative!
Clarksville Academy Blue and Gold Breakfast
Congratulations to the following people who received awards at the CA Blue and Gold Breakfast. Tim Sawyer was awarded the Theresia Burchett Volunteer of the Year Award, Ted Denny was awarded the Evans Peay Recruitment Award, and Charlsie Lankford was awarded the Kevin Cain True Blue Award. Congratulations to these deserving people!
Opportunity to Help
Clarksville Academy has been asked to assist with collecting clothing for a family of six in the community that has experienced a recent tragedy. Please contact Mrs. Turnage for more information.
Model United Nations
The Model United Nations annual conference was held in Murfreesboro, TN Friday through Sunday November 15-17, 2013. This years delegates were Adrian Ortiz, Austin Harnage, Brinley Meek, Iliana Toro, Sedona Tooley, Suraj Prabhu, Alexa Griffith, Elizabeth Mabry, Owen Johnson, Tyler Smith. Jessica Frederick, and Heidi Eames.
There were approximately 500 students from around the state of Tennessee at the conference learning about international politics. Alexa Griffith was recognized with the Outstanding Delegate Award. Approximately four percent of the delegates were recognized with this award this year.
Living Literacy Day
Living Literature is back! On December 6th, we will enjoy a day with Mr. Willowby’s Christmas Tree. If you would like to order a copy of this book to be presented to your child on December 6, please return the order form (sent home today with your child) no later than Friday, November 22. Books are $15. Quantities are limited and we cannot guarantee enough books for everyone.

CA at Macy’s Day Parade
The 2013 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City will feature a performance by more than 700 cheerleading and dance team members representing Varsity Spirit. This year three of Clarksville Academy’s Varsity Cheerleaders, Merideth Hinson, Nicole Mullins, and Victoria Favorite, will be a part of this elite group of cheerleaders that will perform in the 87th annual 2013 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Congratulations!!!
The Junior Cheerleaders will perform at the basketball game on December 6th at 6pm. Practice for the performance will be held December 5th from 3pm – 4pm.

The first preview of building rendering was shown during our Annual Steak Dinner. The drawing will be on display in our foyer as well as online for our parents, students, alumni and other interested stake holders to view. Clarksville Academy now offers a Cougar Cash Account option to better assist children with their lunch needs! This convenient option gives families the opportunity to deposit money into an account and this money can be withdrawn for miscellaneous items that are available at the express window or the hot lunch window.

This is a reminder that CA collects Campbell’s labels and Box Tops through our CAA. The money raised from this project funds various school improvement projects. Last year we raised over $2000 through the Box Tops program alone! Please turn yours into your child’s teacher or Ms. Turnage in the front office.
