Read Across America
We will honor Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss) by celebrating Read Across America Week (Feb. 24-28). Many fun activities promoting reading and literacy development have been planned. Please mark your calendars so that your child can participate in this spirited week.
Monday, Feb. 24 – Red and White Day! – Wear red and white to show your Seuss pride.
Tuesday, Feb. 25 – Foot Frenzy Day! – Wear crazy socks and roll up your pants.
Wednesday, Feb. 26 – What’s in Your Pocket Day? – Bring in a pocket- sized possession to show your class.
Thursday, Feb. 27 – Grinch Green Day! – Wear green, but no grumpy Grinches, please!
Friday, Feb. 28 – Oh, The Places You Will Go Day! – Dress like the adult you wish to become.
National Honor Society
The National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society Inductions will be held on Thursday, February 27th, 2014, at 8:00 A.M. in Clarksville Academy’s Activities Center.
The ACT deadline for the April 12th test date is next Friday, March 7th. Please sign up at www.actstudent.org if you are interested in taking the April ACT before the deadline.
Governor’s Volunteer Star
Congratulations to Alexa Griffith for her selection as a Governor’s Volunteer Star from Humphreys County! She will join 300 other leaders of change from across Tennessee for an award recognition ceremony.
CA Steak Dinner
The 25th annual Steak Dinner will take place on Saturday, March 8. It is night of great food, wonderful music and friends. You won’t want to miss this year’s show featuring the Lower School Cougar Choir, the Intermediate School Choir & the Upper School Show Choir! They have been working hard all year to prepare a wonderful night! Tickets are now on sale for $75.

Planning for College
There will be an informational meeting regarding college planning on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at 5:30 p.m., for parents of students in 11th grade. The meeting will be held in Clarksville Academy’s auxiliary gym. If you are unable to attend, please feel free to set up a meeting with Mrs. Walker to discuss your child’s college planning.
The annual Key Club Spring Rally for our district on was held on Sunday. During that time, Evelyn Turner ran against a student from Middle College and won the Lt. Governor position for our district. Also, Elsa Meyners was chosen by members of the Hilldale and Downtown Kiwanis clubs as the Most Outstanding Key Clubber of the District. Both of these are very distinguished honors and we are very proud of them! Evelyn will be attending Key Club District Convention next month to begin training for her duties.
During the month of February, Clarksville Academy offers Welcome Wednesdays. Every Wednesday during the month, we will host campus tours, student shadowing days and a more inside look at Clarksville Academy. If you know of a family who should be invited to Welcome Wednesday please email their information to Sally Allen at firstname.lastname@example.org.
On Wednesday, February 26 one of Clarksville Academy’s CBL groups will host a spirit night benefiting Loaves and Fishes. This event will take place at the Chic-Fil-A on Wilma Rudolph Blvd from 5:00-8:00 P.M. We invite all families to come out and support this worthwhile cause!
Logan’s Roadhouse Spirit Night
One of Clarksville Academy’s CBL groups will host “Raise the Steaks” at Logan’s. Join us for wood fire grilled steaks, make-from-scratch recipes, and Southern inspired favorites – all while supporting your nonprofit group!
Logan’s Roadhouse will donate up to 20% of your group’s pre-tax dining checks back to your organization.

Youth Leadership Clarksville
Youth Leadership Clarksville Class of 2015 Applications are available for all rising juniors and seniors with a grade point average of 2.75. The first preview of building rendering was shown during our Annual Steak Dinner. The drawing will be on display in our foyer as well as online for our parents, students, alumni and other interested stake holders to view. The Cougar Café will be celebrating Dr. Seuss week with a fun and interesting menu the week of February 24-28!! Clarksville Academy now offers a Cougar Cash Account option to better assist children with their lunch needs! This convenient option gives families the opportunity to deposit money into an account and this money can be withdrawn for miscellaneous items that are available at the express window or the hot lunch window.

Box Tops & Campbell’s Labels
This is a reminder that CA collects Campbell’s labels and Box Tops through our CAA. The money raised from this project funds various school improvement projects. Last year we raised over $2000 through the Box Tops program alone! Please turn yours into your child’s teacher or Ms. Turnage in the front office.
