Music

LS Music class is doing exciting things this year! Our students are learning a variety of musical concepts by taking a song and breaking down the musical elements of rhythm names, beat, solfege, note names and proper singing techniques. When this is mastered the students use a variety of instruments to play the tune and tap the rhythm and beat. Learning to read music has never been so much fun!

Kindergarten

Kindergartners did a character study of Pete the Cat. The teachers shared the different Pete the Cat books with the students. The students predicted what Pete stepped in while wearing his white shoes and determined what affect it had on their shoes by naming the color the shoes would turn. This has been a fun week exploring Pete the Cat books by Eric Litwin.

1st Grade Science

First graders investigated as scientists.  They compared, measured, and observed using their sense of touch, sight, smell, & hearing.  We made “Pinch & Mix” bags and used them to create Stained Glass Windows.

Box Tops & Campbell’s Labels

This is a reminder that CA collects Campbell’s labels and Box Tops through our CAA. The money raised from this project funds various school improvement projects. Last year we raised over $2000 through the Box Tops program alone! Please turn yours into your child’s teacher or Ms. Turnage in the front office.
