Veterans Day Program

The Veterans Day Program has been moved from Nov 7 to Nov 11.  The program will take place at 2:00 pm on Procter Court on November 11. We invite all our families to attend.

1st Grade

For Tech Tuesday, our class spent a little time learning about programming. This week Mrs. Hendrix is playing the board game Robot Turtles (http://www.robotturtles.com/) with small groups. This afternoon, we used the app Daisy the Dinosaur to practice coding. Some found really fun ways to make Daisy move! We love that students can use logic and the method of coding to develop creative solutions!

We learned about How-to writing today by planning, practicing, and writing about how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The students especially enjoyed making their own PB&J sandwiches!

3rd Grade & 8th Grade

8th grade students researched famous scientists and used the information they found to create children’s books. They incorporated technology with their research and then by making an iBook on their iPad. These books were read to 2nd and 3rd grade students who marveled at the interesting people who have influence our world through science and technology!

5th Grade Social Studies

Fifth grade FUSE Writing students worked last week to identify personal passion areas that they would like to learn more about.  From their main passion topic, four subtopics were developed to provide a more in-depth study.  Students are using their iPads to research their passion areas.  The research will be used to create an informative writing piece that contains powerful paragraphs with strong topic and closing sentences.  The students will continue on with their research and writing development, which will end with a presentation of their knowledge as they teach their peers.

Box Tops & Campbell’s Labels

This is a reminder that CA collects Campbell’s labels and Box Tops through our CAA. The money raised from this project funds various school improvement projects. Last year we raised over $2000 through the Box Tops program alone! Please turn yours into your child’s teacher or Ms. Turnage in the front office.
