Lower School News for September 2-8, 2013

Lower school music started the year off right with a big “Welcome Bach” to school by learning fun facts about our composer of the month, Johann Sebastian Bach. Students explored not only the influence of Bach starting in the 1800’s, but how his music, like Taccata Fugue in D minor, is used today through movies such as “Avator” and with an electric guitar player, Dan Mumm.

Rhythm sticks, kazoos, and bells, on my! If you walked past the music room the last couple of weeks you would have heard some interesting sounds come from our children. Loud voices, soft voices, rhythm and beats were among some of the musical concepts that were introduced through following directions.
