First Grade “Thinking Outside the Box”

These are some examples of student’s work for First Grade Think Outside the Box Thursday. Students had to use their creative side of their brain and make something out of a crescent shape. Student’s created a hammock, big smile, bridge and a mushroom.

Third Grade

Students have been learning about animals. After fall break, we will learn how they make adaptations for the environments. Thursday, October 24th, we will introduce a new project on animal adaptations, where students will work in partners to design an imaginary animal to survive in a specific imaginary habitat. They will be given a vocabulary/definitions list, list of adaptation categories and examples of real animals that have these adaptations, a chart to design imaginary adaptations for student-invented species (plus example), and an imaginary habitat description. They will use all of these items to help them create their imaginary animal.

Math Lab

Students in second grade learned how to make and read a pictograph. They tasted four different types of apples. Then, the students decided what their favorite apple was for the taste test. Finally, students learned how to show that information on the pictograph by placing their favorite apple on the pictograph chart and answering questions about the information they graphed.

Box Tops & Campbell’s Labels

This is a reminder that CA collects Campbell’s labels and Box Tops through our CAA. The money raised from this project funds various school improvement projects. Last year we raised over $2000 through the Box Tops program alone! Please turn yours into your child’s teacher or Ms. Turnage in the front office.
