This week CA Pre-K is studying Community Helpers. We have an exciting week of parents and grandparents lined up to teach our classes about their occupations. We will be learning all about Doctors, Dentists, Nurses, Interior Designers, and much more.
Last week in the Science Fab Lab, 3rd graders explored the topic “How do seeds travel?” and investigated the methods of seed dispersal. We discussed these methods:
1. Travel by air: example Maple Seeds
2. Floating: Coconut seeds
3. Transported on animal fur: cockleburs, beggar lice
We conducted an experiment using Faux Fur. We formulated our hypothesis, predicting which seeds would stick to the fur, and thereby showing which ones would “travel” on the animal. We sprinkled our seeds on the fur, to test our hypothesis. We recorded our results in our Lab Logs.
Students in fifth grade learned how to classify triangles by the relative lengths of their sides. They made equilateral, scalene, and isosceles stain glass triangles in Math Lab.
Students in 4th grade learned how to convert units of capacity within the U.S. Customary System.

Box Tops & Campbell’s Labels
This is a reminder that CA collects Campbell’s labels and Box Tops through our CAA. The money raised from this project funds various school improvement projects. Last year we raised over $2000 through the Box Tops program alone! Please turn yours into your child’s teacher or Ms. Turnage in the front office.
