Santa & Mrs. Claus

Santa sure does love the kids at Clarksville Academy! He was back again today, this time to visit PreK. He and his wife, Mrs. Claus kindly stopped by the foyer for a photo in front of our Santa tree. Thank you Santa!

2nd Grade

Second graders took a brisk walk to Smith-Trahern Mansion to see the Christmas trees on display.  They also learned some of the history of the house and of Clarksville.  Who knew Women’s First Bank, in Clarksville, was the first in the United States that women were allowed to use.  The trees were beautiful!

On Tuesday, December 6th, the second grade classes at Clarksville Academy visited a storybook cottage in historic Franklin, Tennessee. Mrs. Christie Jones Ray invited the children into her home and studio to show them how she creates her whimsical stories and illustrations. Mrs. Ray inspired the children by talking with about how to use their imagination and gifts to create something wonderful. All the second graders received a special gift from this author and illustrator. They took home all the materials they would need to create a pomander with their families. Each child also took home a copy of her first book, Eliza Visits Martha’s Vineyard.  It was a magical field trip.

Science Lab

This week in Science Lab, 3rd graders explore Animal Adaptations.  They used tweezers, chopsticks, golf tees, clothes pins, pipettes, and spoons to identify beak adaptations.  They determined which items most closely resembled beaks on their bird identification sheets. They attempted to grasp different types of seeds, matching items with bird beak types.

Lost & Found

The lost and found at CA is overflowing! Please make sure to have your child go through it ( it will be set out on the bleachers this week for children to view while in PE). Parents are also welcome to come and go through the items. Any items remaining in lost and found will be donated on Dec 15.

Box Tops

This is a reminder that CA collects Box Tops through our CAA. The money raised from this project funds various school improvement projects. Last year we raised over $2000 through the Box Tops program alone! Please turn yours into your child’s teacher or Ms. Turnage in the front office.
