Intermediate School News: April 3 – April 7, 2017

Math

In Math, the 6th graders role-played as servers and diners in a restaurant. They put their knowledge of computing with decimals and percent to real-world experience. As servers, they had to calculate the total for the bill. As diners, they had to decide on the amount of tips based on percent, and to calculate the total amount to pay the servers.

7th graders discovered the ratio of diameter to its circumference of circle. The students concluded that the circumference is about 3 times the length of its diameter, and made sense of why pi is used for finding circumference of circles.

Congratulations

Christina Webber, a 7th grader at CA, was chosen for the West Point STEM Academy this summer! This is a high honor and we are proud of Christina!

8th Grade English

8th grade have been studying Shakespeare and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Ethan Chamberlain directed all the fine actors and actresses in their active roles. Sam Wilson did a wonderful job with filming. We made some great memories with this unit as well as some hilarious video bloopers.

Box Tops

This is a reminder that CA collects Box Tops through our CAA.  The money raised from this project funds various school improvement projects.  Last year we raised over $2000 through the Box Tops program alone!  Please turn yours into your child’s teacher or Ms. Turnage in the front office.
