The year long Challenge Based Learning program concluded today for CA high school students with the Solutions Film Festival. It was an amazing culminating event for their year long project as students were challenged with ways to improve their community.
While all students presented their “solution” in the form of a video, one group, Team Galanz, received a special surprise in conjunction with their solution. This team, made up of Dheeraj Daswani, John Anderson, Hunter Galbraith, and Carter Lawless, found out that their dream for a local park is going to become a reality. Team Galanz was looking for a sustainable way to make our community a healthier place. They came up with the idea of installing outdoor weight training equipment at the new Liberty Park. While there are other communities throughout the U.S. that have similar parks, this would be a first for the state of Tennessee. To help make this costly project a reality, they applied for a grant from the Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation.
Today, representatives from the foundation came to CA to announce that they have approved the grant request, and presented the boys with a check for $23,573.96 to fund the purchase, construction, and installation of the outdoor fitness gym. Check out their Solution Video below to see what they proposed!
Construction should begin this summer for the outdoor fitness gym.
