Wallace will not only head up our athletic programs, but he will also teach Intermediate School math courses. Drew said, “We are extremely pleased to have Coach Wallace join us to lead our athletic program. Matt has a tremendous work ethic. He has done a great job coaching for CA and he is an active leader in the Clarksville community.”
Wallace a Clarksville native, graduated from Northeast High and went on to Cumberland University on a basketball scholarship. Christy Batts, Telecommunications Division Manager for CDE Lightband said this of Wallace’s resignation, “I have mixed emotions as Matt moves on to this new exciting phase of his career. Matt has played an important role with CDE Lightband and he will be missed on a professional and a personal level, but we realize that Matt has been given an opportunity that he is well suited for and will certainly excel in. I feel certain that, if Matt gives the Clarksville Academy and his new role there the same dedication and passion he gave to his position at CDE Lightband he will be an excellent athletic director for their program.”
Wallace married to Tara Sundstrom Wallace of Clarksville and they have two sons, Cooper and Colton.
When asked about his move to CA Wallace replied, “I am truly honored, and humbled at the opportunity to become the next Athletic Director at the Clarksville Academy. This is a very special time in Clarksville Academy athletics. Coming off the Class A Basketball State Championship, and with the recent hiring of two unbelievable football coaches in Todd Hood and Mike Marciano, Clarksville Academy athletics is becoming a household name throughout our district and region. I will work tirelessly to maintain the momentum that was created before me, and hopefully be a small part in many more championship seasons.”
Head of Schools, Kay Drew is looking forward to an exciting year with Coach Wallace at the helm. “In my eyes, Matt Wallace is the right person to lead our athletic program. The combination of his personality, work experiences, and passion for athletics will do great things for CA.”
